Discriminating Among Adversaries

Our friends (and I use that term loosely) at RevolutionMuslim have shown us once again why the broad and indiscriminate rhetoric that lumps the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) with al Qaida and their murderous ilk is so silly.  CAIR apparently had the temerity–in the eyes of RevolutionMuslim–to issue a statement applauding the capture of Adam Gadahn.  (Of course, that turned out not have happened, but nevermind.)  RevolutionMuslim taunted CAIR calling them the “Committee to Abolish the Islamic Religion.”

Now, I routinely disagree with CAIR.  That said, it’s a long, long, looooong way from them to people like RevolutionMuslim’s jihobbyists and an even longer way from them to Al Qaida.  Let’s conserve adversaries, ok?

More substantive posting tomorrow.  I’ve been out of pocket as I FINISHED MY DISSERTATION.  WOO HOO!

  1. You are right about being careful about indiscriminate rhetoric and lumping groups together. CAIR is really much closer to HAMAS than they ever would be to Al Qaeda or any other global jihadist groups. HAMAS, by way of interest, wiped out an al Qaeda based group last year (15 Aug 2009) when the group publicly announced its existence in Gaza. All of the AQ types were killed by HAMAS security forces – the same day of their announcement.
