Society for Military History Conference

The Society for Military History has posted the listing of panels for its upcoming 2010 annual conference in Lexington, VA in May.  They haven’t listed the speakers or the titles of their papers yet, but already some of this looks pretty interesting.  Among the panels that intrigue me:

  • “Forgotten Fronts of the First World War”
  • “Jihad, Terror, and National Defense”
  • “Counterinsurgency Across History”
  • “Warfare and Culture: Operational Connections”
  • “The Undersea Cold War”
  • “Covert Commandos: The Impact of OSS and CIA Paramilitary [Forces]”
  • “Thought and Practice in Chinese Warfare”
  • “Auxiliaries for Empire”

I’m planning on going to this conference, if I’m not defending my dissertation at that precise time, so hopefully those of you who aren’t able to go will hear more about some of these panels later.
